Knowing the major lending and housing regulations is a key piece of the puzzle for homeownership professionals. In this course participants learn how to avoid common lending pitfalls, especially those related to RESPA and the Truth in Lending and Fair Housing Acts. Violations of these federal laws and how to develop controls to ensure compliance are discussed, as is how state regulations affect community lending. Participants also examine the influence of nonfederal requirements on local lending activity, including state regulations and licensing requirements, and learn about successful efforts to reduce restrictive regulations by states.
This faculty-led course includes self-paced online assignments and the use of peer discussion forums. The course is presented in three weekly lessons. Participants should expect to spend approximately four hours per week on course related reading and assignments.

This 4-week faculty-led online course is a beginner to intermediate level course and is recommended for counselors and others with less than 12 months of foreclosure intervention counseling experience. One year of general homeownership counseling experience is recommended prior to taking this course.
Learn the protocols for counseling homeowners in financial crisis. Default and delinquency will be addressed, including reasons for default; ways to maximize income and reduce expenses; calculating delinquencies; understanding the players in the mortgage marketplace; loss-mitigation options for a variety of mortgage products; legal information about foreclosure laws and timelines; tips on effectively communicating with lenders and servicers; and understanding homeowner and lender rights and obligations found in loan documents.
HO109vc also satisfies Part II of the requirements for the certification in one-on-one homeownership counseling. Part I is satisfied through HO250, Homeownership Counseling Certification: Principles, Practices & Techniques.

This 4-week faculty-led online course is designed to provide housing counselors with a comprehensive understanding of all the aspects of rental housing counseling. Participants will leave knowing how to evaluate a client situation regarding rental housing and how to counsel through current rental, new rental or transitioning to rental situations. The course also creates hands on learning opportunities around the topics of renting obstacles, the leasing process, Fair Housing protections, the essentials of being a successful tenant, how to prevent eviction and tips on being a first time landlord.
The course will present best practices that are being used in the housing counseling industry and unique tools developed especially for rental housing counseling. It will also give the participant an opportunity to learn through a variety of learning methods, including working with a Rental Counseling Process Model and hands on experience with case study examples.
Full certification in rental housing counseling is achieved by completing both this course and the NTI course HO208 Building Skills for Financial Confidence Course, HO208vc or HO208el and passing the exam(s).

Foreclosure counselors must master certain core content in order to become effective and efficient counselors. This course is designed to address and practice four content areas. These four content areas will include Core Elements, Analysis and Assessment, Solution Focused Counseling Skills and Submission and Closure of the Loss Mitigation Package.

This course is designed to address advanced content areas for HECM counselors. Experienced HECM counselors, gain a deeper understanding of recent program changes, and fulfill your continuing education requirement. This course has been updated to include information about financial assessment, life expectancy set-asides, and non-borrowing spouse issues, as well as changes in the HECM marketplace, HECM servicing, and HECM for Purchase topics.
This course is designed for reverse mortgage counselors who have passed the HUD HECM exam and who have been providing HECM counseling for at least 6 months. Familiarity with HECM concepts and counseling practices will be assumed.

In this comprehensive overview of the NeighborWorks America Quarterly Production Report, participants will learn about the report’s data structure, its definitions, protocols, quality control processes, data entry in the Online Reporting System (ORS), how to interpret the ORS built-in reports (Quarterly Summary, YTD, Relationship Manager) and best reporting practices.
The course includes a dedicated module on understanding the CounselorMax data entry workflow in the context of the Quarterly Production Report. The content of this class encompasses all of the aspects of quarterly production reporting, therefore it is targeted to anyone who wants to learn more in depth about the quarterly production report process. The course will be a faculty-led online course delivered over four weeks, and will include one live online session per week. Participants will apply what they are learning through homework assignments and engaging online projects in between weekly sessions.
